In the Euro 2024 semifinal between England and the
Netherlands, England emerged victorious with a dramatic 2-1 win, securing their
place in the final against Spain. The match took place at Signal Iduna Park in
Dortmund on July 10, 2024.
The Netherlands took an early lead in the 7th minute through
a brilliant goal by Xavi Simons. England equalized in the 34th minute when
Harry Kane converted a penalty, awarded after a controversial foul by Denzel
Dumfries. The game remained tense, with both teams creating numerous chances.
England's Phil Foden hit the post, and the Netherlands' Denzel Dumfries hit the
bar in quick succession during the first half.
- The decisive moment came in the 90th minute when Ollie Watkins, who had come on as a substitute, scored a stunning goal to secure the win for England. His strike from Luke Shaw's low delivery ensured England's first major final on foreign soil.
